Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-08-05

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Outfit Buddy handles information when you use the app. Outfit Buddy is provided by an individual developer operating under the name DWYT Software in Switzerland.

Outfit Buddy is designed to work locally by default. It does not require an account and does not upload your wardrobe to an Outfit Buddy server.

2. Information stored on your device

The following information may be stored in the app's private storage on your device:

Outfit and wardrobe photos, including generated clothing-item crops
Clothing descriptions, colors, patterns, fabrics, categories, tags, matching data and on-device image embeddings
Outfit history, wear dates, notes, plans and statistics
Places you create, GPS coordinates, place mappings and cached weather snapshots
App preferences and optional AI-provider API keys
JSON backup files that you explicitly export

Wardrobe records are stored in a local SQLite database. Photos and backups are stored in the app's private file area. Optional API keys are stored using the device's secure credential storage.

3. Camera, photos and location permissions

Outfit Buddy requests camera or photo-library access only when you choose to take or select a photo. It requests foreground location access when you use location-assisted place features. It does not request background location access.

You can deny these permissions. Manual place selection remains available when location access is unavailable.

4. On-device image analysis

The default YOLO and MobileNet analysis runs on your device. Photos processed through this on-device mode are not sent to an AI provider.

On-device results can be inaccurate. You should review detected clothing items and attributes before saving them.

5. Optional cloud image analysis

If you explicitly select Google Gemini or Anthropic Claude and provide your own API key, Outfit Buddy sends a resized copy of the selected outfit photo and relevant clothing-category instructions directly from your device to that provider. Your IP address and technical request information will also be visible to the provider as part of the network request.

Outfit Buddy does not proxy these requests through its own server and does not receive your provider account credentials. The provider processes submitted information under its own terms and privacy practices. Do not use cloud analysis for a photo you do not want transmitted to that provider.

Google privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Anthropic Privacy Center: https://privacy.anthropic.com/

Cloud services may charge your provider account. Availability, retention and permitted use depend on the provider, account type, region and current provider terms.

6. Weather information

When Outfit Buddy retrieves weather for a location, the relevant latitude and longitude are sent over HTTPS to Open-Meteo. Open-Meteo and its infrastructure may also receive normal network information such as your IP address. Outfit Buddy stores the returned weather snapshot locally.

7. Backups and user-initiated sharing

When you export a JSON backup, Outfit Buddy creates a file containing wardrobe, outfit, place, tag, wear-history and weather metadata. The JSON backup currently references local photo paths but does not embed the photo files themselves.

You control where an exported backup is stored or shared. Backup files can contain sensitive location and wardrobe information, so protect them accordingly.

8. Analytics, advertising and accounts

Outfit Buddy currently does not include advertising, behavioral analytics, session replay or an Outfit Buddy user account. It does not sell personal information.

The public Outfit Buddy pages at outfitbuddy.dwyt-software.com do not initialize DWYT website analytics and do not include a contact form. If you contact support by email, your email provider and ours process the message so it can be answered.

Google Play and your device platform may independently process installation, diagnostic, security and store-account information under their own terms.

9. Retention and deletion

Local information remains on your device until you delete it, use the in-app Delete All App Data control, or uninstall the app. Delete All App Data removes user-created database records, stored photos and crops, local backups, preferences and saved API keys. Default categories, default tags and bundled on-device models remain part of the app.

Information already sent to an optional cloud provider is subject to that provider's retention and deletion rules. Deleting Outfit Buddy data does not delete information held in your Google or Anthropic account.

10. Security

Outfit Buddy uses the operating system's app storage and secure credential storage. External requests use HTTPS. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, and you are responsible for protecting exported backup files and your AI-provider API keys.

11. Your choices and rights

You can use the on-device provider, deny optional permissions, export your local records and delete your local app data. Depending on your location, you may also have legal rights concerning personal information processed by the external providers you choose to use.

12. Children

Outfit Buddy is not directed to children. Optional AI-provider services can impose their own age requirements, including requirements that users be at least 18 years old.

13. Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated when the app or its data practices change. The date at the top identifies the current version.
